Requirements

  • At least 18 years old, or age 16-17 with parental consent.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable).
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Active, enrolled student.
  • Valid driver's license at start of internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a Civil Engineering or Urban Planning program.
  • Transportation focus is preferred.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with GIS to create an improved Bicycle Web Application.
  • Update Sarasota County's Safety Action Performance Measures.
  • Revamp Transportation Planning's webpage.
  • Assist in the development of micromobility draft policies and regulations.
  • Develop a Wayfinding plan for the unincorporated Sarasota County.
  • Develop a Complete Streets Concept for Dr. MLK, Jr. Way.
  • Collaborate with your department colleagues to make and influence real changes.
  • Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.
  • Present to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff at the close of the internship program.
