About The Position

Kickstart your engineering career with hands-on experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment. BETA Group, Inc. is seeking motivated candidates for our 2026 Summer Internship – Transportation Engineering program. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of real-world transportation projects alongside a team of experienced engineers, planners, and scientists. This is a valuable opportunity to learn from industry leaders and gain practical skills that will support your future in engineering.

Preferred location is BETA’s Lincoln, RI office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations.

BETA Group, Inc. is a New England based consultant engineering firm and leader in the fields of transportation, traffic, structural, civil/site, and water/wastewater engineering; landscape architecture; urban design and planning; GIS/asset management; environmental sciences and permitting; and construction services.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in engineering, or related field
• Understanding of general engineering theory and concepts
• Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
• Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

• General working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD platform
• OSHA 10 Certification
