About The Position

The Division of Engineering Services, Structures and Engineering Services, Office of Transportation Architecture, is recruiting for a Transportation Engineer (Civil) position, located in Sacramento. Under direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisory), Structures and Engineering Services, Office of Transportation Architecture, Building Office Engineer Branch, the Transportation Engineer (TE) (Civil) prepares complex cost estimates and construction working day schedules for buildings and transportation-related structures. The TE (Civil) provides the item costs for the Engineer's Estimate for all building and highway related structures. PARF# 59-6-197 / JC-499876 Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Civil) exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Requirements

  • Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification.
  • Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Civil) exam.
  • Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.
  • Please explain your experience as it relates to the questions below: Describe how your knowledge and experience qualify you for this position. Describe your knowledge and experience with reading and interpreting construction contract plans for transportation-related structures and producing an estimate based on those plans. Explain the importance of accurate estimates.
