About The Position

Under the general direction of the Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent participates in the Department's efforts to implement and improve data-driven workflows and drive innovation in construction. The incumbent supports statewide Building Information Modeling for Infrastructure (BIM4I) efforts by developing technical and administrative policies and guidelines for construction, and by providing technical expertise in the Division's ongoing efforts to modernize existing systems and analyzing use cases for innovative field data capture tools. The incumbent supports and manages the existing Contract Administration System (CAS) and Internet Extra Work Bill system (iEWB) by assisting in statewide payments to contractors and by supporting development of performance measures using data visualization and dashboard tools, and assists in ad hoc data reporting for internal and external requests, including public records requests. The incumbent may also oversee the work of student assistants developing various in-house applications and assist in the establishment and publication of equipment rental rates.

Requirements

  • Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification.
  • Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Civil) exam.
  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
  • If you are basing your eligibility on education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
  • Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
