This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards. All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period. Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract. The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. What You Will Do: Learn from a licensed professional engineer about pavement engineering Assist with pavement engineering research & pavement design Assist in establishing research objectives & design of appropriate experiments to address objectives. Make recommendations to higher-level engineer on state-funded pavement-related research projects & assists with the implementation of successful research Assist with pavement design & rehabilitation analysis & recommendations for the Departments pavement design program. Requirements

• Able to work independently & collaboratively to interpret problems & develop solutions.

• Transportation Engineer 1: Bachelor's degree in engineering; Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
• Transportation Engineer 2: Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.
• Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.

Responsibilities
