About The Position

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. Transportation Engineer 1 or Transportation Engineer 2 hire will complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program to include a 12 month training plan & scheduled rotation through the department’s core engineering disciplines; Planning & Engineering, Construction and Highway Maintenance. What You Will Do: · You will receive a thorough introduction to the three core civil engineering disciplines. · You will work along side of ODOT professional engineers. · You will receive hands-on transportation training & experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT. · Help design and deliver roadway projects for the public to ensure safety, accessibility and maintenance of our state, US, and interstate routes. · Learn how to use the latest transportation design, modeling, and plan production technology (CADD, drafting, MicroStation, etc.) to create construction plans. Requirements

  • Transportation Engineer 1: Bachelor's degree in engineering; Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • Transportation Engineer 2: Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
