About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Transportation Driver provides safe and reliable transportation services that directly support our mission to help immigrants and refugees move from uncertainty to stability. This position ensures clients can access essential services by providing timely transportation to medical appointments, CIRA offices, work locations, the airport, and other important destinations throughout Nebraska and Southwest Iowa. The driver plays a vital role in our clients' daily lives, often serving as a welcoming first point of contact with CIRA services. In addition to transportation, this position assists with vehicle maintenance, occasional donation pickup and delivery, and other operational support as needed. We are seeking a dependable, courteous driver who takes pride in safe driving and wants to contribute meaningfully to helping our clients build the life they want to lead.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver's license and carry it at all times while on duty
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record with the DMV
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required; bilingual abilities preferred
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills with ability to serve clients and colleagues from various backgrounds professionally and respectfully
  • Demonstrates patience and comfort working with clients who may have limited English proficiency or communicate through interpreters
  • Demonstrates reliability through consistent attendance, effective time management, and flexibility
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions accurately
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commitment to professional excellence in a mission-driven environment
  • Ability to represent CIRA positively to clients, volunteers, community organizations, and the public
  • Impeccable integrity, positive attitude, and self-directed work style

  • Proficiency in Office 365 applications and ability to learn new software
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. as needed for furniture pickup and client assistance
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
  • Ability to pass all required background checks
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for clients to appointments, CIRA offices, work, and other essential destinations
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding pickup times and schedules
  • Coordinate with case managers when transportation issues or delays arise
  • Ensure all passengers follow safety requirements including seatbelt use and proper child seat installation
  • Maintain professional, courteous service while assisting clients with transportation needs
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues to the Director of Operations
  • Keep vehicles clean, organized, and presentable at all times
  • Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols while operating company vehicles
  • Assist with occasional staff transportation needs and donation pickup/ drop off using company vehicles
  • Use GPS and mapping systems to navigate efficiently to destinations
  • Report accidents, delays, or safety concerns immediately to supervisors
  • Submit expense reports as required
  • Assist with other operational tasks as assigned
