About The Position

The Transportation Driver plays a critical role in supporting member safety, access to care, and daily operations at The Haven. This position is responsible for safely transporting members to and from appointments, meetings, and facility locations while maintaining a compassionate, respectful, and professional demeanor at all times. The Transportation Driver is a front-line representative of our program and contributes to a safe, supportive environment for clients in recovery.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must at least be 21 years of age.
  • Must A valid Driver License.
  • Must be insurable per the Haven’s Insurance policy.
  • Must have an Arizona Non-IVP Level-1 Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it during employment.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aide Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with individuals in recovery and managing sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Must have ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in case of emergencies.
  • Must be able to work days and evenings as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare, addiction treatment, or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of addiction recovery principles and trauma-informed care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a company vehicle to transport members to and from the facility, off-site appointments, court hearings, meetings, or other approved destinations.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and proper maintenance; report any vehicle concerns to Facilities Department.
  • Maintain member sign-in/out sheets as required.
  • Ensure members follow safety protocols while in transit (e.g., seatbelt use, appropriate behavior).
  • Monitor member conduct during transport and report any concerns to clinical or supervisory staff.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to crisis situations or unexpected changes in transportation needs.
  • Follow confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Assist members with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding delays, incidents, or schedule changes.
  • Perform light cleaning of the vehicle’s interior and exterior to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, and ensure the vehicle is refueled as needed.
  • Maintain the contents of the first aid kit and any safety or accessibility devices.
  • Adhere to all sections of The Haven’s transportation plan.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and in-services as scheduled.
