About The Position

The Transportation Driver 2 is responsible for delivering materials within the health system using a motor vehicle. This role involves preparing supplies for delivery, ensuring proper distribution of materials, and maintaining good customer relations. The driver may also prioritize tasks for the driving team and work independently to meet delivery schedules.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Valid Texas CDL class A license with medical certification.
  • Must pass a DOT type physical and maintain any required licensure.
  • Good/safe driving record with no moving violations in the past year.
  • Knowledge of Texas State Department of Transportation rules of the road.
  • Ability to manage routes, read maps/directions, and operate GPS units.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors and customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, count, and write.
  • Ability to follow directions and work autonomously.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures to prevent injury.
  • Ability to maintain vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct staging of merchandise for delivery and secure preparation of supplies and packages.
  • Label totes, boxes, or pallets correctly and ensure shipping documents accompany orders.
  • Verify count and condition of products, reporting overages, shortages, and damage as required.
  • Assist in picking, wrapping, and stacking products on pallets.
  • Load trucks safely, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing all items for travel.
  • Deliver to specified locations within established timeframes.
  • Complete driver log or trip report under DOT regulations.
  • Complete all documentation and manifests required for proper shipment and receipt of product.
  • Communicate any delivery problems to the location.
  • Manage appropriate documentation and manifests for shipment and receipt of product.
  • Ensure good customer relations by delivering orders on time and acting professionally.
  • Prepare purchase order and non-purchase order deliveries and equipment for outbound delivery.
  • Manage the load and delivery of product supplies and equipment according to the daily delivery schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and company regulations regarding fleet safety.
