About The Position

The Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring that drivers leave on their respective delivery routes as soon as they are loaded and ready. This includes making sure drivers have all necessary paperwork and other tools necessary to complete their routes. This position is an administrative role in a fast paced environment that requires a great level of attention to detail with minimal errors. This position also requires the ability to effectively and accurately multi-task and have the ability to problem solve and make decisions with little or no direct supervision. This purpose of this position is to support the Transportation Team in the dispatch office ensuring that timely deliveries are made to our customers while coordinating a variety of other tasks that are necessary to support the overall objectives of the Transportation Team. Communication between drivers, transportation staff, and all other departments is critical.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College level education and/or equivalent business related experience within a logistics, distribution or transportation environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word and Excel)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Samsara or other onboard computer fleet management tools, preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of D.O.T. regulations and requirements, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Dispatch drivers as needed and include all the necessary paperwork
  • Complete trip sheets, correlate credits and organize backhaul slips with appropriate routes
  • Print invoices and manifest each route, load all trips into hand held scanning devices and prepare all trip bags
  • Ensure appropriate route information is ready for drivers before routes depart. Communicate with drivers on any special instructions related to their route and print off maps when necessary
  • Assist drivers on any after hour backhauls and vendor pick ups
  • Contact replacement or substitute drivers as necessary
  • Assist drivers with on road and/or emergency repairs and arrange for substitute equipment as necessary
  • Answer phones and respond to driver’s questions and concerns
  • Document and forward all pertinent information related to accidents or equipment damage to specified personnel
  • Possess the ability or be able to learn how to process Samsara logs, complete daily edits, and run daily reports as needed
  • Support/back-fill receiving desk duties as needed
  • Able to perform data entry into various computer programs
