About The Position

Focus on Students, Safety, and Service while designing bus routes, managing trips, addressing radio traffic, and communicating effectively with the public

Requirements

• High school diploma/ GED (Required)
• Possess a valid CDL (Minimum of Class B with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus Endorsements)
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to make independent judgements in accordance within district procedures and policies
• Ability to pass an annual physical examination, to lift 50 lbs, and to evacuate the bus in an emergency
• Working with minimal supervision and independently performing tasks based on general directions

Nice To Haves

• two years' experience as a bus driver
• Willingness to obtain CDL within 60 days

Responsibilities

• Assists in route planning, scheduling and coordination o Monitor and respond to real-time transportation issues
• Coordinates extra-curricular trips with school personnel and transportation staff
• Assists in planning training and in ELDT training responsibilities
• Assists in preparation of transportation audit materials by maintaining detailed records o Maintains records such as student assignments, route logs, and incident reports o Assists with general office duties such as filing, data entry , and document organization
• Works with drivers to solve transportation safety concerns
• Dispatches messages to appropriate staff and others o Collaborate with schools, supports onboarding and ongoing communication
• Provides excellent customer service and professional interactions
• Arriving for work on time according to the assigned schedule o Requires either early morning or later afternoon hours to align with transportation schedules
• Effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed
• Substitute drive routes and safety coach as necessary
• Completing any and all reasonable duties/responsibilities as delegated/directed by the transportation director.
