About The Position

The Transportation Construction Inspector will provide on-site inspection services for road and bridge construction projects, ensuring quality and compliance with ODOT and OTA standards. This position involves daily fieldwork, detailed documentation, and coordination with contractors and project teams.

Requirements

Experience inspecting roadway and bridge construction projects, preferably with ODOT or OTA.
Knowledge of ODOT construction standards, specifications, and methods.
Ability to read and interpret plans, contracts, special provisions, and construction drawings.
Experience with Microsoft applications, Site Manager, and ProjectWise software.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work irregular hours including nights and weekends.
Accountability in handling public funds for project estimates and documentation.

Nice To Haves

AASHTO material testing training or certifications.
OSHA 10, confined space, and fall protection certifications.
Experience preparing Progressive Estimates and As-Built documentation.

Responsibilities

Perform daily inspections and documentation of roadway and bridge construction activities.
Ensure project compliance with contract documents, specifications, and standards.
Maintain daily reports and accurately record construction quantities and materials used.
Verify material tickets, invoices, and delivery documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Prepare as-built drawings and assist with project pay items for audit.
Utilize Microsoft applications, Site Manager, and ProjectWise software for project tracking and documentation.
Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and coworkers to maintain strong professional relationships.
Perform occasional night or weekend work as required by project schedules.
