DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be responsible for inspecting all aspects of transportation construction activities. Your duties will include assisting in the verification of grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. You will also oversee the proper placement of various materials, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage components, and other relevant materials. Additionally, you will conduct compaction testing using visual non-movement methods to assess the integrity of sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregates. Engaging with department personnel, as well as representatives from federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the public, will be essential to ensure the smooth administration of projects. Furthermore, you will be tasked with completing master diary entries, performing mathematical calculations, estimating item quantities and project costs, and managing all necessary project documentation, whether manually or electronically. Your role will also involve assisting in the resolution of any field issues that may arise during the construction process.
