About The Position

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for projects around the Allegheny County area, PennDOT District 11. The Transportation Construction Inspector/ECMS – V3 Operator is responsible for all aspects of ECMS V-3, Share Point (PPCC). Consulting with contractors, consultants, field engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. Responsible for office duties including reviewing of inspectors’ PSA reports, tracking of quantities, monitoring of sources of supply and certifications, assisting with work orders, cost summaries and meetings and verifying contactors adherence to EEO requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor. Prepare inspection reports and other documentation, make field measurements and properly document quantities for pay in accordance with contract plans, procedures, and policies. Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan. Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents. Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy. Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements. Track overall quantities, sources of supply and certifications. Prepare bi-weekly estimates and project work order OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Travel as required around the Greater Warrendale area as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor. Provide positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company. Other duties which may be required which are commensurate with the position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education and can read, write, and communicate in English and do basic math computations for length, area, and volume.
  • One year minimum PennDot experience as a Technical Assistant 2 or higher.
  • 1+ years or experience in transportation, highway, or bridge construction experience.
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification
  • PennDOT ECMS V-3
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Provide positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company
  • Follow and convey instructions.
  • Utilize computers and common office equipment.
  • Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
  • Infrequently perform manual labor
  • Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions
  • Limited exposure to chemicals.
  • Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferred, but no required.
  • NECEPT Bituminous field certification preferred
