About The Position

The Transportation Clerk Oversize Load Permitter is responsible for ordering all permits for oversize and over height shipments. This role involves maintaining a construction restriction map daily, preparing routing for all trips while considering width and height, and ordering state and county permits, which may be done online or faxed to permit services or county offices. The clerk also monitors annual permits issued to drivers and may need to order new ones as necessary. Additionally, the position requires handling phone calls from drivers regarding routing issues and preparing permit changes when needed due to discrepancies in truck measurements or factory reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Knowledge of Windows, Spreadsheet Software, and ability to use online tools.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up a construction restriction map daily.
• Prepares the routing for all trips keeping width and height in mind.
• Orders all state and county permits, some done online, some faxed to permit service or county offices.
• Monitors all annual permits issued to the drivers and sometimes orders a new one if needed.
• Handles phone calls from drivers about routing issues.
• Prepares permit changes when needed because of trucks going down or house not measuring what factory reports.
