About The Position

At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected, a place where everyone is empowered to bring their authentic selves and novel ideas to work every day. As we work to weave diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and foster a sense of belonging throughout the company and within our communities, we constantly ask ourselves: What is our impact on the world? Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. The primary role of the Transportation Business Group (TBG) Technology Director, working internally as part of our Professional Services program, is to drive the strategic vision and tactical implementation of technology solutions within our TBG. As the Technology Director, you will be responsible for interfacing and collaborating with TBG leadership teams to identify the use and need for technology solutions within the TBG and establish a framework of collaboration with other business group leadership teams, staff from the applied technology office and IT Groups, and other stakeholders to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and foster a united vision for enabling today's and tomorrow's project delivery technology needs. The primary focus will be on the development and implementation of the TBG technology vision, roadmap and strategies, internal coordination with IT group and applied technology teams, and externally with vendors to align with TBG needs. You will identify programmatic hardware and software needs including high-performance computing, access to cloud-based services, software licensing, etc. Additionally, you will develop technology guidelines, policies and TBG software validation and maintenance, provide technology training and talent development, and support TBG's existing technology initiatives while assisting with the identification of new technology initiatives. Success in this role will include developing consistent delivery approaches, connecting people with technology related talent, shaping our strategic plan for the next five to ten years, and positioning HDR as a differentiator in the marketplace. The ability to communicate complex technological solutions clearly and in a fashion so that non-technology leadership can be informed is a must. This position will report to the Professional Services Director and will collaborate with the transportation related market sectors and business classes for overall resource allocation, key hires, quality control, and technical excellence.
