About The Position

The Transportation Associate role at Amazon involves driving commercial motor vehicles locally to support the company's transportation network. This position is focused on performing semi-trailer moves, coordinating yard activities, and ensuring timely trailer arrivals and departures while adhering to safety regulations. Associates will have the opportunity to earn their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) paid for by Amazon and work a consistent schedule with the potential for overtime.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to work 40 hours/week and overtime as required.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
• Driving will be required up to 75% of the time, necessitating the obtainment of a Driver Qualification File (DQF) and/or Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to company rules and regulations and prioritize safety at all times.
• Perform various functions within the yard to support site operations and ensure timely trailer movements.
• Operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads and in the yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and DOT regulations regarding vehicle operation and safety.
• Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
• Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track working hours, and adhere to yard safety policies.
• Work primarily outside and drive different commercial motor vehicles over the road.
• Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment like pallet jacks.
• Lift up to 49 pounds and perform physical tasks during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
• Work as a peer trainer as needed to support the business.
