About The Position

The Transportation Assistant provides administrative support associated with the Beneficiary Travel Program for the Dayton VA Medical Center. The position is located in the Ambulatory Care Section (AC&P) of Patient Business Service. Transportation Assistant must be proficient in office automation and be able to efficiently navigate through the VA programs associated with processing beneficiary travel requests.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates service practices that decrease wait/delays for patients in all areas.
  • Assists with planning and directing programs that provide VTS supports services. Provides advisory services to internal and external customers.
  • Coordinates day to day program flow, processes and functions. Provides technical and management guidance necessary to achieve optimum use of service resources.
  • Collect, compile and track data and statistical information to support Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
  • Collates incoming data and performs basic analysis of data to generate a Variety of Reports.
  • Reviews documents, reports, and or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
  • Receives and verifies accuracy and completeness of DSS workload. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track progress, milestones, performance measures, clinic trends as it pertains to health and travel benefits
  • Uses Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA, Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult\Request Tracking System to process internal consultations.
  • Plans and provides support services for program areas such as: electronic records management, driver scheduling, space utilization, and patient scheduling.
