We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Transportation Analyst in Morton, IL. Job Summary: This Transportation Analyst analyzes and develops transportation plans to control the movement of commodities throughout a manufacturing or distribution network to ensure the smooth running of operations at optimal transportation cost levels. This role is part of our Integrated Logistics team that provides end-to-end integrated logistics solutions designed, deployed and executed to support Caterpillar’s global footprint of manufacturing plants, suppliers, distribution centers and dealers. Capabilities include: Packaging Design and Returnable Container Management Inbound International and Domestic Transportation Logistics Network Operations – including Manufacturing Parts Nodes, Site Logistics and Cross Dock Operations Outbound Logistics – International and Domestic: Specialized Cargo and Product Distribution Solutions

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of related industry experience in transportation or import/export operations
  • Experience with Infor Nexus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Tools (Access, Excel, Visio), specifically Excel application functionality experience with data analysis: V Lookups, and pivot tables
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven customer focus and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous experience in transportation on an international scale
  • Leadership or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day transportation operations for North America outbound moves under the Global Materials Management (GMM) Program, including international air, ocean, and parcel moves
  • Coordinates problem resolution with Caterpillar facilities and approved Service Providers with regards to the GMM transportation network
  • Implements both operational and technological solutions to reduce performance gaps, improve velocity, and reduce costs within the transportation network
  • Manages the relationship, operational execution, business rules, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the North America GMM Control Tower.
  • Manages onboarding of new suppliers and facilities to the GMM program
  • Deploys case management, work queue, and defect resolution processes to the Control Tower and transportation process partners
  • Provides analytical insights to leadership and internal customers to generate fact driven solutions
  • Uses tools such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and Visio to drive transportation tracking and process flow improvements for the Control Tower
