About The Position

The Transportation Analyst / Trainee 1 / Trainee 2 position involves collecting and analyzing transportation statistics and information, developing methods of analysis, and evaluating existing and proposed plans and projects for their ability to meet transportation objectives. The role includes preparing reports of findings and participating in transportation systems, program and project planning, and project development. Duties will be performed under the direction of the Regional Asset Manager and include assisting with gathering and disseminating information from Regional Asset Teams, developing Initial Project Proposals, conducting project scoping tasks, and using Geographic Information Systems mapping and scheduling software to support capital program and project development functions. The position may also involve supervising clerical or seasonal staff and participating in the Incident Command System during regional and statewide emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Transportation Analyst Trainee 1: A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours.
  • Transportation Analyst Trainee 2: A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours AND either one year of qualifying experience or a master's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours.
  • Transportation Analyst: A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours AND either two years of qualifying experience or a master's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours AND one year of qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze transportation statistics and information.
  • Develop methods of analysis.
  • Evaluate existing and proposed plans and projects.
  • Prepare reports of findings.
  • Assist with gathering and disseminating information from Regional Asset Teams.
  • Develop Initial Project Proposals in coordination with the Regional Asset Teams.
  • Conduct project scoping tasks.
  • Use Geographic Information Systems mapping and scheduling software.
  • Collect, analyze, and report asset data to support the Capital Program.
  • Prepare corridor plans, planning studies, and other planning documents.
  • Supervise clerical or seasonal staff as needed.
  • Serve a role within the Incident Command System for emergency situations.
