About The Position

The Transportation Analyst / Trainee position at the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) involves supporting regional planning activities within the Technical, Administration, and/or Planning Groups. The role is designed for candidates who are part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS) and offers opportunities for both Trainee 1 and Trainee 2 levels, depending on qualifications. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours for Trainee 1.
  • A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours AND either one year of qualifying experience or a master's degree for Trainee 2.
  • A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 qualifying semester credit hours AND either two years of qualifying experience or a master's degree including 24 qualifying semester credit hours and one year of qualifying experience for Transportation Analyst.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Research, collect, interpret and analyze transportation data.
  • Collect and/or coordinate project data and entry into databases. Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control of data.
  • Review technical deliverables.
  • Prepare reports; develop, manage, and maintain databases.
  • Support project solicitation and selection for competitive federal and state funding programs.
  • Assist with procurement and management of consultant services.
  • Maintain records and monitor programming and obligation of federal funds.
  • Research requests for information from NYMTC member agencies and other parties, including the public.
  • Prepare draft correspondences, documents, handouts, and brochures.
  • Assist in coordinating meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes.
  • Assist in developing and providing material to update NYMTC's website.
  • Support public outreach activities and public meetings.
  • Perform other tasks as required by NYMTC management.
