About The Position
Under general supervision, assists special education students in safely boarding, riding, and exiting a school bus. Employees in this classification receive on-the-job training and perform related work as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Provide a copy of a valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card.
- Provide a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification for consideration. Online First Aid courses will NOT be accepted. BLS certifications do NOT include First Aid. Certifications must comply with the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
Responsibilities
- Assists students in safely boarding, riding, and exiting the school bus.
- Fastens and unfastens seat belts, harnesses, and other restraining devices.
- Lifts students and operates wheelchair lifts and other adaptive equipment.
- Assists students with their personal care needs.
- Maintains student discipline.
- Communicates with school personnel, parents, and District staff.
- Prepares reports.
- Attends meetings and in-service trainings.
