About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Transportation Aide/CNA to provide essential support in patient transportation and care within a healthcare facility. This role involves assisting patients with mobility, ensuring safe transfers, and supporting clinical staff with various patient care activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient safety protocols, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Experience with EMR/EHR systems, assisted living, geriatrics, and specialized care such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care is highly desirable. Requirements

  • Current CNA certification or equivalent healthcare training preferred.
  • Experience working in long-term care, assisted living, hospital settings (including ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers), or home & community care environments is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs assessment, medication administration assistance, and basic life support (BLS).
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or Epic is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts safely and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work compassionately with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Physical ability to assist with patient transfers and mobility tasks; must be able to lift or move patients as required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients within the facility using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs.
  • Assist patients with mobility needs, including transfers and ambulation, respecting individual care plans.
  • Support clinical staff with patient care activities, including vital signs measurement, medication administration assistance, and basic nursing tasks.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and update electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper equipment handling.
  • Assist with patient positioning, hygiene, and comfort measures tailored to individual needs such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
  • Monitor patient condition during transport and report any concerns to nursing staff promptly.
  • Follow safety protocols for infectious disease control and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide compassionate support to patients with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or those requiring specialized care such as ICU or trauma center patients.
