About The Position

The Transport Paramedic position at Ascension St. Vincent in Fishers, Indiana, involves providing advanced life support for critically ill or injured patients during transport. The role requires collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse to stabilize patients and implement interventions based on established protocols. The paramedic will also be responsible for monitoring and communicating patient conditions, maintaining equipment, and may be required to drive an ambulance for patient transport.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience.
  • Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Life Support preferred.
  • Certification specializing in ER Vehicle Operation preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
  • Drivers License preferred.
  • Instructor specializing in Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
  • Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport.
  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport.
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition and treatment.
  • Contact receiving medical personnel to report observations and follow directives.
  • Inspect, maintain, and care for equipment to ensure safety.
  • Drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies as required.
