Requirements

  • Completion of a Paramedic Program Required.
  • Minimum 3 years of ALS experience as a Paramedic Required.
  • PARAMEDIC - Paramedic – Licensed current and valid in the state of Nebraska Required.
  • National Registry Paramedic Required.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required.
  • ACLS Upon Hire Required.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 60 Days Required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Required.
  • STABLE Course within 90 Days Required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Transport Course (PATC) within 1 Year Required.
  • Specialty Certification within 1-1/2 Yrs Required.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record Upon Hire Required.
  • Completed and passed the Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operator course (EVOC) within 30 Days Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Critical Care Paramedic program Preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Medical Services or related health care field Preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with pediatric patients Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined paramedic standards, or protocols.
  • Collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment of patients.
  • Assesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach in delivery style.
  • Performs reassessment based on unit standards, protocols and changes in patient condition.
  • Communicates changes to appropriate persons (transport partner, MCP, family) as indicated.
  • Provides safe driving of the ambulance according to the Standards of the US Department of Transportation.
  • Maintains Response Times within targeted benchmarks set by the program.
  • Checks, cleans, and stocks transport bags and equipment.
  • Maintains all transport equipment in a state of mission readiness.
  • Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using evidence-based treatment orders.
  • Implements and evaluates actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care.
  • Documentation reflects accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patients response to therapy.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
