About The Position

The Transport Officer is responsible for the custody and discipline of inmates at the East Texas Treatment Facility, ensuring compliance with directives from the Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). This role includes the transportation of inmates and maintaining security within the facility.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• Successful completion of an accredited, TDCJ-approved Correctional Officer Training program or TDCJ Correctional Officer Pre-service Training Academy provided upon hire.
• Valid CDL with an acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Custody and discipline of inmates in compliance with MTC and TDCJ directives.
• Transport inmates to and from the facility according to established procedures.
• Search for contraband and provide security within the facility.
• Count, feed, and supervise offenders in various areas, including climbing stairs.
• Perform security functions including 'pat' and 'strip' searches.
• Transfer and transport offenders by walking or riding in vehicles.
• Restrain and secure assaultive offenders as needed.
• Respond to emergencies, including climbing stairs and providing first aid.
