Transports patients in an efficient, safe and timely manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High School graduate or equivalent 2. CPR certification. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Prepares equipment and room for transportation of patient. 2. Assists with the transfer of patients utilizing wheelchairs, carts, and beds to and from nursing units, ancillary testing, departments, clinic areas and vehicles in a safe, courteous and timely manner. 3. Transports patients utilizing wheel chairs, carts, and beds to and from nursing units, ancillary testing departments, clinic areas and vehicles in a safe, courteous and timely manner. 4. Transfers oxygen tanks from storage area to transport devises (wheelchairs, cart and bed). 5. Provides scheduled designated services for Radiology, Fast Track, Emergency Department and other areas as directed. Never disconnects oxygen or monitoring equipment. 6. Maintains cleanliness of carts, wheelchairs and work area with wipes provided. 7. Attends CPR class annually for infants, children and adults. 8. Addresses problems which occur during the regular performance of duties with Director, Manager and or Nurses. 9. Completes additional duties as assigned by Director. 10. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served. (Neonatal 0-11 months, Pediatric 1-12 years, Adolescent 13-17 years, Adult 18-64 years, Geriatric 80+ years) 5 Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development. Assesses information relative to patient's status and interprets this information to identify the age specific needs of each patient. Maintains an understanding of the range of treatment necessary for each patient and provides appropriate care based on their age specifics needs. 11. Provides and gives professional, cooperative and courteous service to patients, visitors, telephone callers, medical/dental staff, and fellow employees, while maintaining confidentiality of patient, employee and hospital information at all times. 12. Oxygen and monitoring equipment issues are to be addressed by the Nurses, never the transport staff. 13. Performs proper tracking/logging in the directed computer systems and communicates pertinent patient information to technologists. 14. Each employee has a fundamental responsibility to safeguard patients' rights and demonstrate respect for such patient needs as confidentiality, privacy, security, complaint resolution, spiritual counseling, and communication. 15. Attends in-services and other educational programs as required.
