About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Transportation Supervisor to join our Kellogg Marine team in Old Lyme, CT. The Transportation Supervisor will work under the direction of the Branch Divisional Manager (BDM) and Day Warehouse Manager to coordinate the daily activities of the Kellogg truck fleet, including but not limited to supporting Management and Sales by supervising, planning and making decisions critical to Kellogg truck routes, drivers and fleet management.

Requirements

  • Ability to use analytical skills to make sound judgements
  • Proficient in analyzing data to deliver results
  • Highly advanced skills in MS Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Highly organized, able to switch gears quickly, strong attention to detail
  • Experience with product management, process improvement and supervising a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, across all levels of the organization
  • Mediation and conflict resolution, and associated documentation
  • Ability to multi-task, delegate responsibilities and oversee multiple priorities effectively
  • Flexible schedule as required to fulfill business needs; Excellent attendance required
  • High School diploma, college degree preferred
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in supervision, preferably in more progressive roles with a broad range of responsibilities
  • Forklift and other material handling equipment experience
  • Computer experience necessary (Word, Excel, email, etc.), Fleet Management, DOT compliance and/or Hazmat experience a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma or 5S for Safety training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Financial oversight of OT routes - Increase profitability of routes
  • Prepare documentation for senior approval
  • Improve, track, train and measure the program
  • Utilize industry knowledge and operations/distribution expertise in analysis of common carrier rates, service offerings and facilitating continuous moves with carriers that will optimize truck utilization, revenue and provide freight cost savings opportunities for LnS
  • Maintain driver schedule, training, DOT compliance, time management, reviewing logs for accuracy and completeness, communicating and resolving problems
  • Frequent ride-along with drivers is important in resolving problems and for the success of our fleet
  • Communicating, coaching and developing employee success while also documenting performance issues
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the truck fleet
  • Communicate Kellogg's equipment needs and replacement requirements to Management in order to upgrade and maintain driver safety, productivity and efficiency
  • Review and optimize truck routes
  • Make changes to improve efficiency and cost as needed
  • Work with Management to promote and ensure that our Safety Program initiatives are enforced, providing a safe and clean workplace for employees, while remaining in compliance with OSHA, state and local requirements, as applicable
  • Investigate and documenting accidents
  • Provide appropriate corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Reporting weekly mileages and fuel data to fleet providers
  • Make decisions with performance appraisals, merit increases and promotions
  • Assist Management in establishing budgets as needed and adhere to budget requirements
  • Support and participate in the organization's Continuous Improvement Program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the BDM and/or divisional management
