About The Position

The Transplant Tissue Allocation Specialist at VisionGift is an entry-level position focused on coordinating the logistics of corneal transplants. This role serves as the primary contact for surgeons and schedulers, ensuring the efficient distribution of ocular tissue for transplant and research purposes. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for corneal transplants and tissue distribution.
  • Serve as the primary contact for surgeons and schedulers regarding east coast distribution events.
  • Distribute transplant and non-transplant tissue according to VisionGift policies and procedures.
  • Match transplant corneas with patients and surgeons based on various factors.
  • Track inbound and outbound shipments using multiple shipping interfaces.
  • Hand-deliver tissue to local hospitals and surgery centers as needed.
  • Network with other eye banks and partner entities to fulfill transplant needs.
  • Build and manage the surgery schedule by processing tissue requests.
  • Facilitate training for surgeons, residents, and fellows by organizing wet labs and distributing training tissue.
  • Maintain a highly developed database for daily functions.
  • Evaluate tissue and determine surgical suitability as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
