About the position

The Department of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor faculty on the Academic or Clinician Track with clinical focus on Lung Transplantation. As a Division, with more than 80 faculty based at four principal hospital sites, we proudly feature nationally recognized programs and leaders in Interstitial Lung Disease, COPD, Lung Transplantation, Critical Care Medicine (Respiratory Failure & ARDS), Cystic Fibrosis, Interventional Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. We strive to find new treatments and cures for diseases in these areas through basic, clinical and 'big data' research, while working to prevent respiratory illness. We partner with faculty across the University and colleagues in the community in our research, clinical, education and training efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Devote at least 85% effort (90% or 95% for Clinician Track) to providing high quality clinical care.
  • Participate actively and contribute to PACCS Division and Department of Medicine academic and clinical programs.
  • Engage in education and collaborative research activities with the expectation of demonstrated accomplishments consistent with promotion in the academic track.
  • Develop an area of focus and expertise, gradually developing a regional and then national reputation.
  • Participate actively in the relevant multi-disciplinary programs.
  • Engage in clinical and research conferences, journal club, core curriculum lectures, and teaching of students, residents, and fellows.

Requirements

  • M.D. and ABIM certified or eligible in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
  • High quality training in Pulmonary and Critical Care.
  • Experience in academic research and/or educational activities with a high likelihood of ongoing achievement.
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA category.
