About The Position

Support the RN Transplant Coordinators manage patient care and transplant processes. This role will perform all transplant process roles that do not require a RN license, allowing the RN Transplant Coordinators to focus on patient clinical care. Those roles include, but not limited to; communicating with patients regarding evaluation testing/procedures, organization testing/procedural calendars, interfacing with external departments to ensure testing/procedures are scheduled in the best possible manner for the patient, managing the office functions for the coordinator team including; faxes/emails/telephone, ensuring prior authorizations have been attained prior scheduling and other roles deemed necessary and appropriate. Excellent communicator to patients, RN Transplant Coordinators and providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn computer and application skills as applicable to role.
  • Ability to interact with and work around people.
  • Ability to make judgments in demanding situations.
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work.
  • Ability to listen empathetically.
  • Ability to logically organize details.
  • Comfortable accepting responsibility for medium to large scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning many months from start to finish.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Science, technology, engineering, or mathematics preferred.
  • Healthcare experience in a high pace office setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of transplant patient care by ensuring a high attention to detail, willingness to learn medical terminology and concepts.
  • Work closely with the medical and nursing teams to become an integral addition to the overall care of the transplant patient.
  • Assists the transplant coordinator to monitor the progress and outcomes of transplant patient care throughout the care continuum.
  • Facilitates the scheduling of studies or procedures for diagnostic purposes.
  • Communicates in a timely manner with patients, patient families, multi-disciplinary team and medical personnel.
  • Supports the transplant coordinator to ensure effective collaboration with all multi-disciplinary team members and disciplines that are involved in the care of the transplant patients.
  • Completes necessary documentation according to regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) or National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) and/or Center for International Bone Marrow Transplant Registry (CIBMTR).
