About The Position

The Enterprise Transplant Financial Coordinator is an advanced level authorization representative responsible for managing financial processes related to solid organ and bone marrow transplants. This role involves understanding payer requirements, conducting financial clearance calls, and assisting patients with their financial obligations. The coordinator will also monitor authorizations, resolve inbound calls, and collaborate with the transplant team to ensure compliance with guidelines and standards of care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing, customer service, or finance related field required.
  • Advanced knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • Advanced knowledge of third-party payor referrals and authorizations required.
  • Excellent written and grammatical skills, including proper phone etiquette.
  • Advanced computer/keyboarding skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Transplant financial counseling and billing experience preferred.
  • Financial, analytical, and mathematical competencies preferred.
  • Competence and experience with Epic preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical billing, reimbursement, and collections processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of solid organ transplants, bone marrow transplants (BMT), and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) preferred.
  • Knowledge of transplant billing requirements preferred.
  • Certification as Transplant Financial Coordinator (CTFC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete financial clearance calls with patients to outline financial obligations related to care.
  • Assess financial assistance eligibility and determine insurance coverage eligibility.
  • Provide estimates for patient financial requirements.
  • Monitor work queues to ensure timely completion of authorizations and escalate potential barriers.
  • Answer and resolve inbound Transplant Call Center calls efficiently.
  • Interpret insurance coverage eligibility and manage insurance transplant contracts.
  • Submit Letter of Agreement (LOA) and Individual Case Negotiation (ICN) requests for coverage issues.
  • Participate in selection committee meetings to assist in decisions regarding transplant recipients.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to develop and implement care protocols for transplant patients.
  • Monitor and update documentation according to UNOS and CMS guidelines.
  • Assist with staff training and cross coverage as needed.
