Requirements

  • 1-2 years of Inpatient Experience
  • Able to make independent and responsible decisions.
  • Self-starter and demonstrates initiative
  • Able to maintain and exhibit professionalism
  • Able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, family members and other facility staff
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric through geriatric patients
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his/her pediatric through geriatric needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s departmental guidelines.
  • Undergraduate degree meeting academic requirements, successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program and eligible to take the American Dietetic Registration Exam; or undergraduate degree from an accredited Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics with specialty in Clinical Nutrition and eligible to take the American Dietetics Registration Exam; or Masters Degree meeting academic requirements and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program, with six months experience in Clinical Nutrition and eligible to take the American Dietetic Registration Exam
  • Registration with the American Dietetic Association with continuing education hours that maintain registration status
  • License with the Texas Board of Examiners of Dietitians and education hours that maintain licensure status.
