Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing (RN) direct patient care experience required.
  • One (1) year RN experience i n transplant, organ procurement or disease/organ specific provision of care specific to transplant area of specialty Required. For example, Kidney Transplant Coordinator would need one year of experience caring for dialysis patients or on a nursing unit that cares for patients with end stage renal disease or in a nephrology office; Liver Transplant Coordinator would need one year of experience in a GI or hepatology clinic or on a nursing unit that cares for patients with end-stage liver disease.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Other\: Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) 2 Years Preferred
  • Transplant experience strongly preferred – kidney, kidney disease, dialysis, deceased donor, liver.
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the evaluation and provision of care to patients through coordination with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide appropriate clinical information and education to patients, family, and care providers.
  • Receives organ offers, coordinates deceased donor transplants and triages after hour patient calls to appropriately refer issues to on-call physicians and provides any necessary follow-up instructions to patients.
  • Responsible for the organization, management, and provision of care to patients during clinic visits to include performing skills including blood specimen collection peripherally and through central line or port, removal of central lines, starting IV's, assisting with bedside procedures with physician, insertion and removal of urinary catheters, and removal of staples and drains.
