Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Two (2) years critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric or ER.
  • Two (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Valid State Drivers License.
  • Valid RN License Active RN License and be in good standing with the issue state board of nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
  • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator Certification.
  • Four (4) years critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric or ER.
  • Four (4) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities

  • Provide input and facilitate the donor referral, clinical management and organ recovery processes.
  • Evaluate referrals for organ and tissue donor suitability based on LNH, OPTN/UNOS, AOPO and CDC guidelines/recommendations.
  • Ensure that donated organs are allocated in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of donor evaluation and physiological management including review of medical and social history.
  • Preserve organs and tissue according to LNH and national standards to ensure maximum viability for transplantation.
  • Provide the option of organ and tissue donation to the legal next-of-kin in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
  • Complete the donor EMR record in a timely and accurate manner according to LNH Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide work direction, coaching, and mentoring in clinical competencies and serve as Preceptor for new staff.
