About The Position

This is a position for a transplant anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents, fellows, and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education, scholarly activity, and research components. This position is full or part-time FTE 75-100% This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.  The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Requirements

  • WI medical license by start date of position.
  • Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology by start date of position
  • MD or DO, or equivalent required

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.
  • For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

Responsibilities

  • Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions.
  • Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training.
  • Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia.
  • Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.
  • Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model.
  • Working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
