About The Position

ACRT is seeking energetic, experienced professionals who enjoy working outdoors for a Transmission Utility Arborist position. This role is suitable for both entry-level and seasoned professionals with an educational background in rangeland management, forestry, horticulture, natural resources, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines, or relevant experience. The position is ideally located in Lubbock, TX, and adjacent areas, with required travel to other areas when necessary. Arborists will identify, inspect, and evaluate vegetation and brush along utility lines, submit inspection results and recommendations to clients, and coordinate clearance crews. They will also handle access issues, act as a liaison between clients, crews, and customers, perform real-time crew checks, and manage estimates, schedules, and contractor work.

Requirements

  • 2 or 4 year degree in Rangeland Management, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or closely related field OR in lieu of a degree, 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or other related field (Ex. general Right-of-Way management, Integrated Vegetation Management, nursery work or timber cutting, etc.)
  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, production oriented
  • Candidate must be comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation related activities
  • Candidate must be able to work with stakeholders, utility customers and line clearance vendors and have excellent interpersonal skill
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skill
  • Multi-tasking and strong time management skills required
  • Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (available nights and weekends as needed)
  • Able to hike lengthy periods of time to access lines throughout the region
  • Valid driver's license required and must be able to drive long distances in company vehicle
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check required

Nice To Haves

  • Vegetation management experience preferred
  • Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of vegetation and brush along utility lines
  • Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned clearance crews
  • Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, work crews, and client customers
  • Perform real time crew checks
  • Get estimates, build schedules and set up work for contractors
