About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. All employees who apply for a posted position must notify their supervisors that they have applied. Transmission Schedulers are responsible for maintaining the reliability of the Bulk Electric System during planned and unplanned outages. Employees at the entry level of this job family apply acquired education and experience to work situations and exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments. They provide support to management and higher level professionals.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field is required
0-2 years of related experience is required. Related experience may include experience in technical writing, scheduling, maintenance, or operations
Works safely according to company policies and procedures
Basic understanding of Transmission System Operations procedures, policies, practices
Strong written and oral communications skills required
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills required
Strong analytical abilities involving complex problems; exercise sound judgment
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Ability to learn the Energy Delivery Outage application, Transmission Outage database, EMS, Microsoft Office, SORS, eDART, FileNet,
Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines

Responsibilities

Processing switching requests submitted by regions
Analyzing outage requests for contingencies
Maintaining compliance with PJM outage coordination requirements
Coordinating outages with internal and external sources
Preparing Four Day Out study, analyzing reliability issues and providing solutions
Modeling scheduled outages in EMS/RTS to identify contingencies and/or overloads. Providing solutions to scheduling concerns
Writing procedures for taking equipment out of service, restoring to service and test energizing
Providing support to Operators regarding switching controls
Providing technical support to control centers
Administration of databases used to support the control centers
Preparing scheduling reports for operating companies
Providing assistance during emergencies and storm related activities
