About The Position

The Transmission Right of Way (TROW) Agent is responsible for acquiring land rights essential for the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric transmission and distribution facilities. This role involves negotiating with landowners, settling damage claims, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to land acquisition.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in real estate, business, engineering, project management, or related field with a minimum of three years of related experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a similar field with a minimum of two years of related experience.
  • Experience in business, project management, real estate, law, or electric transmission and/or distribution right-of-way.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products and land management databases.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complicated negotiations with land owners for the acquisition of land rights.
  • Settle damage claims with property owners related to property damage caused by AEP or its contractors.
  • Search courthouses and other records to determine present property ownership and interests.
  • Review and interpret legal documents, property surveys, and appraisals.
  • Prepare approved legal documents for land rights acquisition.
  • Provide functional support to other AEP Business Units regarding land rights acquisition procedures.
  • Maintain property owner files, maps, and detailed progress reports within ROWSi.
  • Knowledgeable in real estate values and appraisal practices for land rights acquisition.
  • Complete ROW estimate & scope for TROW Projects and manage multiple right-of-way projects.
  • Act as a liaison with vendor companies performing services related to land rights acquisition.
  • Responsible for project oversight and ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Monitor project quality, milestones, and performance against annual work plans.
  • Approve vouchers for payments incurred in land rights acquisition.
  • Assist in the selection of witnesses for condemnation and court actions related to land rights acquisition.
  • Represent Transmission right-of-way in internal and external process improvement teams.
