About The Position

This lead position is within Sargent & Lundy's Consulting Group and will be responsible for managing different consulting engagements related to power system studies for transmission interconnection projects, including external coordination with clients and internal coordination. The role also involves providing guidance and oversight to junior engineers performing power system modeling and analysis, participating in business development including identification of new work, preparation of proposals, and providing input on project scope, approach, schedule, and budget. Additionally, the position requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry technology and applications of new technologies.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • A minimum of 12 years relevant engineering experience with at least 5 years of experience in leading a team of power systems engineers.
  • Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limits.
  • Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARA.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system damping.
  • Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD.
  • Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN.
  • Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE.
  • Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages.
