About The Position

The Transmission Maintenance Technician is responsible for promoting a high level of customer satisfaction through assistance in planning and installation of electric transmission utilities. Working in a team environment you will be responsible for assisting in the design and coordination with Transmission Engineers for the selection of proper materials for new construction, maintenance and replacement of damaged Company facilities. This role works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on construction related issues. Interacts and is a member of a self-directed, collaborative, and interdependent team.

Requirements

  • Level I: High School, GED or Equivalent; Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a natural gas or electric distribution related field; Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects; Basic computer skills and ability to learn computer applications; Specialized job-related training in gas and electric design, map reading and familiarity with applicable codes, tariffs and requirements preferred.
  • Level II: High School, GED or Equivalent; Three years plus applied and demonstrated consistent performance/experience working with Avista contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders; Proven track record of contributing as a team member and successfully building relationships both internal and external; Competent knowledge of the Construction Service Technician process and/or transmission line design and ability to complete complex work assignments.

  • Familiarity with PLS CADD software suite

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with project documentation and administration, including updating PLS CADD line models, processing as-built records, reviewing drawings, and performing administrative duties.
  • Performing in-field related tasks, such as collecting as-built field data, identifying suitable access routes for construction projects, and construction staking for upcoming work.
  • Documenting and modeling transmission system line impedances and facility ratings in PLS CADD and other software.
  • Processing and reviewing third-party attachment requests, collaborating with engineers to create scopes of work and cost estimates associated with make-ready work.
  • Under engineer supervision, designing small projects, such as make-ready work, creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembling construction documents and drawing sets for line crews.
