About The Position

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transmission Line Engineer to be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding material, installations, and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality Your Impact Project Support Lead and/or support the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been established Manage engineers, drafters, and designers on small to medium-sized engineering projects and interface directly with the client Responsible for creating and maintaining a project schedule and budget Conduct weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to clearly outline upcoming deliverables and tasks with responsible personnel identified Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings as necessary Maintain project workflow and thorough communication across multi-discipline projects, both internal and external to WSP Forecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planning Facilitate and adhere to WSP’s QA/QC procedure to ensure the correct personnel is performing the required QA/QC review Participate in industry conferences, both internal and external, to improve professional growth while fostering knowledge transfer to colleagues Develop Transmission Line design knowledge pertaining to PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, steel pole performance loading, material procurement, construction specification, and construction support Project Manager Support Maintain project status reports Provide weekly or bi-weekly project updates and project forecasting Lead and/or support PM by meeting with clients, both in-person and remotely Develop client relationships allowing WSP the opportunity to position ourselves to win future work Department Manager Support Support resource forecast planning for upcoming and current project loads Participate in new hire screening and review processes Provide business improvement methodologies and procedures Discuss project and/or department personnel conflicts, performance issues, and collaborate on a suitable approach to constructively provide a successful resolution Contribute to Business Planning and Budgeting Who You Are Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience). 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior civil design experience. At least 3 years of experience using PLS-CADD Engineer in Training Certification. Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues. Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design. Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements. Knowledge with process and concepts for reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas. Knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies. Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS). Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Engineering. Electric utility industry experience Professional Engineering licensure Experience managing projects and leading multi-disciplined teams Design experience up to 230 kV Distribution design experience At least 3-years of experience using POLE, TOWER and FAD Tools software packages Transmission line routing Transmission foundation design Transmission structure load and design Cost estimating and scheduling Experience using L-Pile and Microsoft Projects Essential Professional Licensure/Certification. 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred. Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
