About The Position

Our Overhead Transmission business is in search of a Transmission Design Engineer with PLS-CADD experience to join its team. The transmission line team is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to be involved in all facets of transmission line design, including but not limited to, transmission line routing, design, structural analysis, etc. Duties may include construction PLS CADD models, POLE models, creation of construction documentation, materials, technical specifications, analyzing maps, blues, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects. Work Location: Candidate ideally resides in the Greater Portland, OR area to work a hybrid schedule; however, all qualified candidates residing in the Pacific Northwest of U.S. will be considered, including fully REMOTE, if warranted by experience/skillset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems, or Master's degree with less than 2 years of prior experience.
  • Experience using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TOWER.
  • EIT or PE certification.
  • Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Responsibilities

  • Involved in all facets of transmission line design including routing, design, and structural analysis.
  • Construct PLS CADD models and POLE models.
  • Create construction documentation and technical specifications.
  • Analyze maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs for project planning.
  • Evaluate soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data.
