About The Position

The Senior Transmission Line Engineer at Ampirical is responsible for designing electric transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution lines. This remote position involves regular client interaction, site visits, and mentoring junior engineers. The role emphasizes innovation and technical expertise in managing large-scale transmission projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university, preferably in Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • Civil or Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • 3+ years of transmission and/or distribution line design experience
  • Proficient in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, MFAD, and MS Excel
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage tasks for multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • High level of personal initiative and ability to interact with personnel, clients, and contractors

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PLS-TOWER
  • Familiarity with CPUC GO-95 & 131-D
  • Experience as the technical lead on projects
  • Master's in Structural Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Design conceptual routes, layouts, preliminary and detailed designs and specifications for high voltage transmission lines and/or distribution lines
  • Plan and profile sheets, staking sheets, bills of materials (BOM), and stringing charts
  • Create design criteria, pole loading drawings, framing drawings, and construction drawings
  • Develop terrain models and structure loading calculations
  • Conduct as-built revisions and provide construction support
  • Review and provide Quality Assurance (QA) for project engineering deliverables
  • Attend project site visits/walk downs and interface regularly with clients
  • Support client's project engineers as directed and independently plan work to meet assigned objectives
