Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Masters degree in Engineering may substitute for a B.S. degree.
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure
Experience in the utility industry
Proficient in transmission line design theories and principles
Proficient with relevant design software, including: PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, MFAD, etc.
Strong understanding of engineering theories, problem-solving, and application of engineering principles
Familiarity with applicable design codes and standards
Demonstrated ability to research technical solutions, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations
Strong collaboration skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in project management principles

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise in transmission line design, including scenario analysis, option evaluation, and engineering calculations to meet standards, codes, and best practices.
Support transmission line routing/siting, conceptual design development, cost estimating, and detailed design (structures, foundations, electrical components).
Deliver engineering support during construction, including troubleshooting, field support, and overseeing design implementation.
Lead the identification, analysis, and resolution of complex technical challenges in transmission line design.
Make well-informed engineering decisions impacting major projects and broader business outcomes.
Develop creative solutions to address construction issues, environmental considerations, and public concerns.
Prepare accurate and comprehensive job packages, calculations, drawings, technical reports, correspondence, and documentation.
Conduct engineering studies, manage non-routine projects independently, and maintain project schedules and cross-functional interfaces.
Ensure successful project execution through planning, organizing, estimating, and monitoring work activities.
Build strong working relationships across teams to effectively coordinate engineering activities.
Communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats.
Maintain accurate project records and ensure documentation compliance.
