About The Position

The Transmission Line Design Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and analysis of high‑voltage transmission lines in support of capital construction, rebuilds, and system reliability initiatives. This role applies sound engineering judgment to develop constructible, code‑compliant, and cost‑effective transmission line designs while coordinating with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in ABET accredited Engineering Program
  • Effective and flexible communication skills
  • Understanding of Project Management Principles preferred
  • Ability to utilize and manipulate GIS and digital terrain models preferred
  • Experience using PLS-CADD Software and foundation design software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Designs new or modifies design of existing electrical transmission lines.
  • Determines line design parameters and identifies alternative line routes.
  • Investigates, identifies, and recommends acquisition of rights-of-way for transmission lines.
  • Initiates request for and supports permitting processes required.
  • Calculates structure requirements and conductor sag-tension parameters.
  • Specifies equipment, materials, and assemblies required.
  • Provides physical and electrical designs for construction.
  • Responsible for all specifications and drawings used for construction.
  • Provides field engineering support while construction is in progress.
