About The Position

This position involves supervising the field line work typically performed by a transmission line crew in the construction, maintenance, and operation of transmission lines and stations. The supervisor is responsible for planning and scheduling work, ensuring a safe and efficient flow of activities, including requesting system clearances and outages. The role requires leading crews in a manner consistent with the company's cultural pillars and leadership framework, and ensuring all work adheres to Company safety rules and practices. Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge and skill to perform the duties listed above.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of line construction and maintenance activities that are gained through experience such as Transmission Line Mechanic A.
  • This experience would typically be attained with 5 years of construction or maintenance and operation of transmission lines.
  • A physical abilities assessment is required for this position.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of transmission line safety rules and practices and be proficient in the application of resuscitation and first aid.
  • Must have good working knowledge of transmission circuitry.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license.
  • Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the Company's transmission and distribution standards.
  • Must possess the ability to deal with employees, customers and the general public in a courteous and proper manner.
  • Successful candidate must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise line crews in the construction, maintenance and operation of transmission lines assuring safe work rules and practices are being followed.
  • Assure the proper and safe use of tools and equipment, and the safety, welfare and training of personnel assigned.
  • Procure materials, tools and equipment as required.
  • Comply with practices, policies and standards of the Company that apply to transmission line work.
  • Maintain good relations with employees and the safety to the public in regard to Company facilities and operations.
  • Understand and apply the provisions of the Management Information and Policy Manual; labor contracts, employee handbook and applicable employee handbook supplements.
  • Attend supervisory, site visit, and work scheduling meetings as required.
  • Maintain contacts between assigned functions and other respective parts of the Company.
  • Keep immediate supervisor advised on activities and make and maintain records and reports as required.
  • Perform the duties of a Transmission Line Mechanic-A as required.
  • Make effective recommendations for employment, promotion, discipline and discharge of personnel assigned.
