About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is a full-time, on-site position located at the Covington PA Service Center for the Line Construction & Maintenance Project Crew North. Job Summary Performs duties in connection with the installation, removal, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution equipment. Performs other work as assigned. Performs duties such as: Complicated construction, installation, maintenance, and repair work on dead or energized conductors, structures, and equipment. Switching and sectionalizing and traces and corrects grounds and short or open circuits. Determines phase and makes proper connection for phase rotation. Installs and connects any or all types of transformers, meters, and services. Load and voltage tests. Patrols transmission and distribution lines, inspects related equipment, and re-fuses transformers as directed. Maintains clearances on fences, roads, bridges, rights-of-way, or wire when necessary or duties in the setting and maintenance of poles and lines. Assists in the transportation, moving, or erection of any equipment or material, and operates any equipment as required. Directs and instructs the work of those assigned to assist on occasion. Responsible for the observance of all safety rules and electrical protection orders and ensures clearance has been established when necessary.

Requirements

  • Must meet the Company’s requirements as to the General Qualifications
  • Must have attended appropriate line worker training and successfully completed required examination.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid CDL Class A.
  • Must promote and interact harmoniously, under regular and emergency situations, with fellow employees, other Company employees, and customers.
  • Must have a telephone and respond regularly of planned overtime and call-outs, as required.
  • Must satisfactorily progress in and complete required training courses as required by the Company.
  • Must have a knowledge of and comply with the local, state and federal motor vehicle laws and must meet the Company's driving requirements.
  • Must have demonstrated aptitude for and skill in the performance of the assigned duties.
