The Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Superintendent is responsible for field operations on assigned project(s) to ensure safe, timely, and profitable completion. This position plans, organizes, and supervises specific portions of construction work for an assigned area of a project and oversees the scheduling of T&D activities to confirm that contractual construction requirements are completed. The Superintendent maintains continuity of job progress and maximizes efficiencies for the assigned area.

  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual T&D construction activities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Interface with client representatives, A/E representatives, and other contractors.
  • Collaborate with project management to develop and implement project procedures, documents, and standards.
  • Authorize purchase requisitions and field design change requests (under Construction Manager and Project Manager supervision).
  • Ensure overall project safety and regularly review site-specific safety documentation, including Pre-Task Analysis (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs).
  • Complete daily field reports and document construction progress with photos.
  • Review subcontractors’ 3-week look-ahead schedules to identify and address potential concerns.
  • Develop marked-up and as-built drawings to produce record set documents; assist in answering RFIs with help from the Assistant Project Manager or Field Engineer.
  • Direct and manage subcontractors to comply with the project schedule and track progress by installed quantity and work hours.
  • Verify that material deliveries meet specifications, are stored properly, and maintained as required (in coordination with the Materials Manager).
  • Coordinate with the QA/QC Manager to verify welder qualifications.
  • Witness all equipment setting and alignment.
  • Inspect systems before, during, and after hydrostatic testing to ensure compliance; sign off on completed tests and restoration.
  • Develop punch lists for incomplete or non-compliant items.
  • Ensure that the most current drawing revisions are being used in the field.
  • Understand and execute project scope changes, ensuring field change orders are properly executed.
  • Oversee craft supervision and project staffing as needed.
  • Manage on-site materials and tools.
  • Supervise and direct daily field construction activities, ensuring coordination, subcontractor direction, and compliance with codes and specifications.
  • Read, interpret, and understand isometric drawings, structural drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies and standards.
  • Education & Experience (One of the following combinations is required): Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects; or
  • Associate Degree and 9 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects; or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 11 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong safety background
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Must meet company driving requirements
