About The Position

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented designer to join an exciting consulting firm in the power utility space. The Transmission Designer will be part of our Transmission Engineering Group and operate in a dual role of drafting civil/electrical drawings and engaging in lower-level design work for energy infrastructure projects.The position would require the candidate to work with engineers and consultants to create drawings and develop a technical understanding of overhead line design practices and procedures.

Requirements

Associate’s or technical degree in drafting, engineering, or related field of study.
5+ yrs. of CAD experience, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D experience preferred.
Previous work experience in the field of engineering.
Knowledge of industry standards and general design practices.
Excellent Verbal & Written Communications skills.

Ability to invite and accept constructive feedback
Ability to use Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word, and Power Point.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of AutoCAD program and/or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering technology or related field of study.
Knowledge of Transmission, Distribution and Substation Projects.
Experience with design software such as PLS-CADD, MFAD, L-Pile, VORTX, or VIBREC.

Responsibilities

Computer aided design and drafting of all engineering products and deliverables.
Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.
Complete engineering design tasks under the supervision of the engineering staff.
Self-checks all work performed to ensure its accuracy prior to turning it over to the supervisor or designee assigned to review the work.
Understand & meet project schedule, and quality requirements.
Complete deliverables accurately and quickly.
Detailed and quality oriented.
Able to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments as changes occur in projects.
Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail, correspondence, attending meetings and other project documents required for project completion.
Provide interdepartmental support as required.
